Greg's right, Gene -- you are not understanding what I'm saying. Every spin is independent and the odds in your example are as follows:
Probability that you will win your bet on 14 on the 1st spin = 1/38.
Probability that you will win your bet on 15 on the 2nd spin = 1/38.
Probability that you will win BOTH spins in succession = 1/1444.
Or, looking at my earlier example, if you are betting on 14 on both spins:
Probability that you will win your bet on the 1st spin = 1/38.
Probability that you will win your bet on the 2nd spin = 1/38 (just as you say).
Probability that you will win on BOTH spins = 1/1444 (just as I say).
Another way to put it, I guess, is that if you are going to bet on only two spins and you are going to bet on only a single number on each spin, the probability that you will win BOTH spins is 1/1444. I hope this way of looking at it makes more clear what I have been trying (without success!!) to say (though the probability is exactly the same as that of spinning 14 twice in a row!! <g>) ----- jim o\-S
