Neal,
That is a noble idea, but you run certain business risks with the idea. First, the Club's Board would have to give permission to use the Club's name and logo. Second, the producing and selling of the chip benefits the host hotel and it is another negotiating tool used when trying to book meeting space, sleeping rooms and other amenities at the host hotel. As a Club, we have asked The Orleans not to book any meeting space the week of our show that would be selling casino chips or collectibles. In a professional business arrangement it would be extremeley uncomfortable for the Convention Chairman, (especially a new one) to inform the host hotel that the Club is selling or giving away our name and logo to a bunch of other casinos in town for the purpose of producing a profit making chip. This of course, is only my view as the former Convention Chairman. As a businessman, I can tell you that this would not endear the new chairman, nor the Club to the host hotel. This convention stuff is not as cut and dried as most folks would think. But, Wayne Thompson, the new Convention Chairman reads this board and he may think it is a great idea!
