Regarding the values in The Chip Rack: The authors are not told by anyone as to what levels to place prices on chips. As noted under "The Chip Rack Approaches Prices," -viii-, one will see how this long and laborious process of reaching a fair market value is undertaken. The three authors are constantly obtaining actual information about as many chip transactions as possible. They rely on us, the collectors and dealers to inform them. Of course there are exceptions in every "guide," as to fair market value, especially when there are no records of a fair market value existing on any one entry, of which in most cases a "comparison approach" is instituted..., and this is where we the collectors and dealers are expected to to share whatever information we have pertaining to a sale or trade. It's almost like what one does on Election Day: If you stay home and do nothing you have very little room to bitch.

I'm only focusing in on "The Chip Rack" because it was the one book brought up in this thread regarding pricing. There are many excellent books, magazines, sales lists, newsletters and auction services available to us, that if just peeked at would enhance knowledge tenfold.
