Hi Pete -- 100% absolutely correct everything you said (except of course about "predicting" a streak "after" the fact, which is an oxymoron. <g>
However, you can determine (up front) the probability that a long streak will occur (which is what I was doing) --- or, you can determine after the fact what the probability was that a particular steak was going to occur (whether it did or not, the probability is the same).
And, knowing the odds against a long streak can make a player nervous when one occurs (especially when it favors the house), which was the point which started this thread. I have now forgotten the exact number, but it was something like 6 out of 12 consecutives spins resulted in the same number (which was also 12, as I recall).
Possible in a fair game? Absolutely. Probable? Not very. Sufficiently unlikely, as I mentioned earlier, that I would be looking for a different wheel that didn't go so far in straining my credulity. I can virtually guarantee that if the shoe was on the other foot (i.e., a long winning streak), casino management would be having a hemorrhage. ----- jim o\-S
