Laughlin: Question and Comments

I'm sorry I can't meet a lot of you all in Las Vegas but I did spend an interesting weekend in Laughlin. A question: Harrah's, according to THE CHIP RACK has two $1. chips that are only differentiated by the "inlay description". Could someone please tell me what the book means by a "round edge" and a "square edge" in the inlay? A visit to the Colorado Belle Casino was a very pleasant surprise. They had posted by their Casino Cage a display of all of their commemoratives. I asked if I could get hold of any of them and they told me I could buy all of them. I was expecting at least a minor service charge. No. They sold me all of their chips at face AND put each chip in a neat, round plastic case to protect it. When I took a $25. chip from the tables to the cage to get "the nicest one you have", they also put that in the plastic case for me. I think I discovered a "new" chip at the Gold River. I know some of you don't make distinctions about Hat & Cane designs but the Gold River has both a Hat & Cane and a Long Cane Version. Also, I was told that since the casino had been bought and is being renamed (I think the River Palms or the Palms), they will soon have totally new chips. I did not find out when the Gold River chips in use now will be changed but it sounded like it was going to be fairly soon. Sorry for such a long tale. Doug McKenzie
