You do raise some interesting questions Archie. Please keep in mind that what I collect is mainly Colorado, and most if not all CO chips don't have the variations that the AC chips that Doug described. As a rule, a chip with a different allignment of inserts would be considered a different chip, OR an error chip given the strict rules set by the CGC. ...for some reason, even the allignment of the hotstamped AND graphics on CO chips aren't of a random variety. They all gotta be the same otherwise they are an error chip, or a different chip.
A complete collection that includes every "error" chip from any area is almost impossible, but I think Gary Johnson has come as close to doing it as is possible. If you have his CO chip guide (no prices listed) you understand what I mean.
I'd suggest that if you know of two different versions of the same chip, but they are the result of random manufacture, you might offer the subscribers to your new issue service an option of buying both.
