I have seen poker rooms use 25 cent chips for the drop instead of quarters. In fact the FQ's did it in 1983. Dealers do not like it. Hurts tokes. They call 25 cent chips " SEWER LIDS" A player will throw 2 quarters but not 2 chips.

This could explain the BJ part of the mystery. Poker Room Mgrs often have the authority to order chips. I did. I gave the order to the salesman I liked best and it was always John Liner at Bud Jones. He was a chipper and a friend to chippers. Retired to Fl.
