CC>CC members who have not signed up for the first class delivery of the club magazine should really give this option some serious thought for the future. As Membership Officer Jim Steffner has reported in his post on this BB, undeliverable first class mail is returned to the sender.... regardless of whose fault it is that it was rendered undeliverable. In the case of the current issue of the club magazine, the fault was with the mailing house in Minnesota. Those magazines that are being returned daily to Jim are remailed by Jim personally, with the proper label, the same day Jim receives them from the post office. Jim got back over 100 copies yesterday alone. The mailing house is picking up the tab for the remailing.
The 3rd class bulk mail is not returned by the postal service. It is junked by the postal service and sometime down the road the club receives an address correction slip.... for which we are charged. As Jim has reported, the club has had the auction listing and the Convention Activities Schedule section of the magazine reprinted and will be mailed to EVERY member, via first class mai,l in time for everyone to be able to still bid in the auction and to know the convention shedule beforehand. Replacement copies of the magazine are now being reprinted for distribution to the 3rd class bulk mail subscribers. However, it is unlikely that they will receive their copies before the convention, hence the reason for sending out the auction lots and convention schedule separately. Doing the best we can under an unfortunate set of circumstances. Archie
