Jim, I bought my computer because I seen an ad for the Collectors Assistant. I bought the CA first, then the computer. Did not know how to turn it on at the time of purchase. I just wanted to find a way to keep track of the chips. Plastic sheets, flips, storage, and notebooks was driving me crazy.
The CA lets me scan both sides of a chip, and has fields for all pertinent information. I have about 7,000 chips, and can find anyone in a matter of seconds. All I need to know is the casino name or the state it is in. I keep information like when and where I got a chip, issue date, amount of issue, and any history I know of. Colors, mold, manufacturer, how much I paid, current value, etc. It is capable of printing out any type of report I want. I love it.
I bought it from the Carlisle Development Co in Carlisle Ma. There are two types. One just for chips. One for all collectables such as coins, Baseball cards, Disney, plates, autographs, etc, etc, etc. Cost was $59 or $79. I bought the $79 one as I collect a few other things. They original wrote the program for coin collectors.
