Read your notes on the bulletin board today. It takes a big man to apologize and Estelle and I appreciate your taking the time to reevaluate the show and dealers at Hollywood Park last Sunday. It was nice talking to you and to your wife. We enjoyed visiting with you. The hobby of chip collecting is a lot of fun and can be very sociable. It never was our intention to "rip you off" or make you feel uncomfortable. So Calif. CC&GTCC is a non-profit club that runs off of $12 dues per year per member (approx 50 members). To pay for mailing postage, stationery, meeting room, national club fees, etc. we raise the additional money by charging $10 per club member dealer at a trade session. We also have club raffles at regular meetings where dealers contribute a chip to the raffle to raise money for club expenses. (But dealers don't pay money at regular meetings for tables.) The July trade session was lightly attended, if there had been more chippers present, then there would have been more trading going on between attendees. Its our sincere hope that you continue on in the hobby, developing your own collection Along with time comes knowledge and experience and the abundance of traders (as we all have gathered).
Estelle has put you on the mailing list to notify you of future meetings which are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Hollywood Park. We know its a long distance from Mission Viejo, but we hope you'll be able to join us sometime in the future. These meetings (usually attended by 40 - 50 chippers)have more trading going on, though dealers will also display their chips.
