I was going to Laughlin last spring. There was a turtle (tortise) beside the road. I picked him up. Then was stopped on the other side of Searchlight by the highway patrol. No one was around when I picked him up, but the highway patrol officer was certainly looking for me. $20,000 fine for touching turtles. Two patrol officers and two game rangers had a conference, then let me off with a warning. It seems I didn't look like I was going to make turtle soup. Keep your mind on the chips and leave the turtles alone. And they kept the turtle. My wife had nothing to do with it, at the time she didn't even know me.
