Thanks for your comments, Joe. As you probably know, the image editing program I use PhotoDeluxe has just about all the types of image conversion you could ask for. I am not using anything fancy when I save images, either in GIF or JPG format. In looking at the image with my browser, I cannot see any diffference in clarity between GIF and JPG. I do notice occasionally that GIF will put speckles on the picture; when I go back and covert to JPG, they are gone.
I'd be interested in your experience in saving a medium sized image with minimum file size in both formats. I always get a smaller image with JGP, and cannot see any difference in quality. I know that GIF is a more common format on web pages, but so far, it doesn't appear to me that the reason is smaller files.
