To All Dealers & Collectors Who Trade:
How many times has a collector walked up to your table with LEs, chips from Colorada, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc. etc.? How many times have you told them "I'm not interested in that stuff" and handed their book back without even opening it? This in my opinion does more damage to our hobby than any other type of behavior except possibly being cheated
.
Last convention I heard many individuals being told by various dealers as well as collectors - I don't deal in LEs. If you think about it for a minute what you have said in essence is - I don't want to trade with you and your chips mean nothing to me and I don't want to look at them.
I saw many collectors walk away from your tables feeling bad that they had no one to trade with. I don't care who you are or how big your inventory is. You can't tell me that the room you have in certain chips isn't large enough to be able to trade with individuals and still come out.
I guess what I am saying is: It isn't what you say nearly as important in how you say it. Taking a few chips in trade won't cause you to go out of business and if you don't take them at least be civil in your decline. Look at a persons book - show them your interested even if your not!!! Be kind - it doesn't cost anything.
Anyone interested in non Nevada chips? I have 6 pages of chips I have taken in trade in the past and it didn't hurt at all<VBG>. Best, Jim
