Bob, A year or so ago, Paul-Son sold Argosy chips which the casino contol board in Indiana, would not allow the casino to use. They were regular inlay chips that had been canceled by stamping them with a "spider web" of gold on each side. Many folks bought these up to the $500 & then removed the gold hot stamp with a Q-tip & some nail polish remover. You could feel the inlay & know that the chip had been altered. The inlays had ridges or indentations on them. There have been many chips like this in the last year & collectors have purchased them as fun pieces to have. I bought a few sets & removed the gold on a few of the sets. I left some of the others in their original condition. When the day cruise boat, Casino Miami began to sail they had a promotion where you could buy in at the cage for $250 & get a 20% or 25% discount which was charged to a credit card called IGT(In Good Taste). You were given "special" chips to use. Casino managers "rented" the Argosy $5's & $25's! As it turns out, these 2 chips were live on the tables. The 2 other ships that had this promotion, made their own chips which were produced by CHIPCO. My fellow Florida chipper tells me that Casino Miami has begun the promotion again. It will be interesting to see what chips they use this time around. I hope this explanation prevents another lengthy thread & answers you original question.
