I love ya Gene! I can play 30 hands of video poker in 15 minutes if I'm eating and drinking at the same time.
I was a prop at the Turf Club, occasionally got sent over to Madame June's (same owner), and the only game played was 7-stud. My 30-hand an hour estimate is based on hands dealt to more than an all fold table. It was good action, and the house (and the dealers and wait employees) were making money. It was, and still is, a ten percent rake up to $3.50 a hand. The comps never came close to overlapping the drop, and the tips kept the employees very employed and happy. These clubs both closed due to insufficient action on their machines. Madame June's was more doomed than the Turf Club because they were at the end of the street (see also the Star, Independence, Aspen Mine, Golden Horsehoe, all closer to the center of the casino district than 'June's).
Maybe that is the difference between Colorado Poker and Vegas Poker. The bottom line isn't just the casino's profit margin in CO. Keeping good empoyees figures into the equation because almost nobody that works in a Colorado casino lives in the same town as the casino.
I donno all the answers.... I do love playing poker. ...have won the WSOP 11 times on my computer (the Masque software version).
Take care,
Bob
