Now Gene, don't display your testiness.<g> Ask nicely and I will give you the answer. No need to shout!!
Card rooms in California dropped out because of competition. The smaller ones could not compete with the larger ones. Slot machines, on Indian reservations, didn't help but really was not the cause. You make 600 sound large but half of them didn't have more than a couple of tables.
I have consulted with the 6 casinos that purchased my package with subsequent updates involving witholding of taxes on non resident aliens (Tax Treaties) as well as U.S. citizens.
In order to understand what is going on today one has to understand the past. Las Vegas began to change with Howard Hughes and the corporate mentality started buying casinos. One must understand why a lot of houses are in trouble. I agree no one in the industry today cares when HH came into the picture - and that is exactly the point why things are so screwed up.<LOL>
I agree suits will not argue for it. However, suits will not argue for anything. They are survivers of a sick system. One that is guided by people who do not have a clue as to what they are doing. Who chase away players and don't understand why they have no body in their joint. Two of the grestest all time casino bosses I ever knew were - Jimmy Young and Jimmy Newman. Both men knew how to run an establishment. If it wasen't for Jimmy Newman the Las Vegas Hilton would have closed long ago. These type of men taught me much - When I was a young IRS agent eager to learn the business I would be auditing - I questioned men like these to learn all I could. They would answer my questions and be shocked that someone actually wanted to learn the industry. Best, Jim
