This Chipper is very interested in this thread--very very interested. If poker is discontinued, this is one chip that won't be going to Vegas anymore. I have read much on poker and what I've read seems clear; it is a loss leader. But what a loss leader--I play at Harrahs [el cheapo--and with my talent, that's where I have to play] and at the tables there are usually three or four people whose spouses, children, friends etc are out playing the slots or the tables. I wonder how many would be there if the poker table is gone [& I would be surprised if that house makes money on its poker]. I won't go to the nearby Indian casino [Turning Stone] because it has no live poker and know of at least six others who also don't go--where do we go? Foxwoods and A.C.
