I was reaading the thread, waiting for someone to make this comment... I to DO NOT clean my chips - as I too am a coin/currency collector. A coin collector should NEVER clean their coins as the cleaning process removes metal and detail, thus having the effect of lowering the grade of the piece.

As Casino Chips have started to be segmented into "grades", albeit not as many grades as there are in coin collecting - are we going to see the mega price differences in chips as there are in coins??? Hummm...

I have received chips that have been cleaned - by the toothpaste method, mild haand soap and others. To me the colors are "off" and the feel of the chip is also different - smoother...

Well it's time to get off of my soapbox.
