After all of the long threads about Casino de Mexico chips, here is what I heard from a most reliable source today, while sailing on the Contessa. I hope you are all sitting down! A fellow collector, Stan Hartwig, who once lived & may have worked in Colorado, is a casino host/pit boss/slot manager on the Contessa. After chatting with him during a lull in the action, he noted that he was going to Cancun. I told him that I too, had planned a trip to Cancun & Cozumel prior to the convention. He said that the was MOVING to Cancun & will be on the staff of the Casino Cancun!!!!!!!!! He floored me with his comment. He said that he would be leaving in a few weeks & that I should look him up when I get to Mexico. Here is what he told me. A day cruise boat will be based in Cancun, either at the cruise port or at another location near the ferry. The boat, which is in transit, will be doing some shake down trips in late July & will be in full operation about the time of the club's convention. He didn't have many more specifics, but he did say that the chips have been ordered & the boat was already outfitted & will arrive in Cancun shortly. How do you like them apples!!!! Could this be the start of full casino gaming in Mexico in tourist cities like Cancun, Cozumel, Acapulco, etc. Stay tuned for further developments as they become available.
