Charles, while there are some purists that like intact dirty chips, I like mine clean, and when a purist sends me chips that I have to clean before adding them into my collection, I figure the time that I spend cleaning them into the price that I'll pay for a chip from a dealer that won't clean them! Sterling's Magic works very well. I use it on a damp cloth, and wipe the chip again with another clean damp cloth. Don't EVER get the chip wet! They can warp! Just wipe the grime off with a damp towel.
